News is breaking about a horrendous miscarriage of justice in the Netherlands. While the issue of Jerry Sandusky serving as a long-pampered pedophile within Penn State, taking advantage of his closeness to young people and his reputation as a football coach to fulfill his lusts has drawn a great deal of attention , the massive corruption at the heart of the Dutch government concerning this issue is vastly less known and even more serious in nature . Today, therefore, I would like to discuss the facts and implications of the immense moral corruption of the powerful peodphile Joris Demmink.
Joris Demmink is a notorious accused Dutch pedophile, who in the 1990’s abused minors, six of whom (3 dutch young men and 3 Turkish young men) have now publicly named him as their molester. In addition, four police reports filed with Dutch police name him as an accuser in cases of rape and child molestation. And yet there has been no follow-up and investigation of these claims. Why is that? It so happens that the Secretary-General of the Dutch Justice Department, the equivalent of our Attorney General in the United States, is one Joris Demmink. In this case, the outrageous truth is that Joris Demmink has immunity from trial because he gets to decide what crimes to investigate, and he is not going to investigate any charges against himself.
This unacceptable situation is about to enter a new level. Joris Demmink, now under intense scrutiny for the severity of the crimes that he is accused of, is about to resign from his position at the apex of the Dutch justice system (!), and when that happens he will no longer be immune from prosecution for his heinous sins. It remains unclear whether he will remain in the Netherlands, though it is likely that he will try to leave the country as soon as he leaves office so that he can go to a country that does not have an extradition treaty with the Netherlands so that he may molest children with impunity somewhere else. There are now calls for Queen Beatrix to intervene to keep Demmink in the country and deny his departure so that he may belatedly face justice.
This particular corrupt situation has become an international crisis. Several members of the House of Representatives (apparently the least corrupt part of our own government) have called upon the European Union to review whether the Dutch are capable of fulfilling their treaty obligations to defend the safety of children in light of the monstrous behavior of the Dutch Justice Department. As can be expected, the State Department of the United States has sought to throw cold water on justice, commenting only that no crimes have ever been proven against Demmink (which is impossible because he has prevented any investigations from going on to prove the crimes that he has committed), and continuing to provide encouragement to the Netherlands, considering them a Tier I nation committed to eradicating child trafficking despite the fact that they remain (like Thailand) a popular destination for kidnapped children for forced prostitution. Even Turkey has gotten involved, as Turkey’s Prime Minister Erdogan has been called on to ensure that the claims of the Turkish nationals be investigated with the utmost of thoroughness, and there have even been calls for the House of Representatives to hold oversight hearings on the State Department over their contradictory findings of the Dutch role in the sexual slave trade.
Let us therefore comment on at least two elements of this case that are particularly striking. For one, the moral corruption of Dimmick in the Dutch Justice Department is likely to be related to the corruption within the Netherlands as a destination for sex slaves taken from other parts of the world. It beggars belief that a Justice Department that would consciously engage in injustice to prevent the investigation of claims against their own chief would then be vigorous in the enforcement of claims of the same sort of exploitation of children and other vulnerable people, not least because their own chief could be assumed to be in cahoots with them, or subject to blackmail if he offended other powerful interests involved in such a trade. Indeed, the cynical might claim that his long tenure in his office, despite his rampant pedophilia, was probably in order to prevent the vigorous prosecution of child abuse in its many forms within Dutch society.
But let us not pick on the Dutch. It is not as if this is a unique problem in the Netherlands. Far from it  . We must also examine the ways in which pedophiles and other abusers deliberately seek power within institutions in order to fulfill their lusts and gain access to the vulnerable. Whether we are talking about child abusing priests or other clergy, high ranking adulterers and child abusers and rapists within the upper ranks of civil and military ranks, or academic figures who commit child abuse and actively cover it up, the underlying pattern is the same. People have talents or gifts that lead others to overlook their gross moral faults, while those who wish to abuse others actively seek power to give their actions a cloak of legitimacy, and to provide themselves with a position that makes their unreasonable demands more difficult to reject and their corrupt deeds more difficult to prosecute and bring into the harsh light of day.
Let us therefore hope that some justice, even if belated, may be provided to the unfortunate survivors of child abuse thanks to the moral corruption of Joris Dimmick, pedophile-general of the Dutch Justice Department. His personal sins almost certainly inhibited his ability to protect the children of the Netherlands as well as the exploited people brought into his nation and forced into prostitution while he fiddled and diddled as an abuser like those despicable slave traffickers he was tasked to prosecute. His story indicates the deep moral corruption in high places in the Netherlands and elsewhere, as the U.S. State Department has turned a blind eye to Dutch corruption in this case. We must therefore hold our leaders to a high standard, and fight our own societal corruption so that we may use our authority to serve others, rather than exploit and take advantage of them as is so often the case.
