I don’t know exactly who reads these blog entries, and it is rare for me to get comments, but I know that I have friends who are both entrepreneurs and small business owners as well as writers of various stripes (historians, poets, playwrights, authors of prose fiction, bloggers). So, I have an invitation and a set of interrelated questions for both those friends of mine who run their own businesses and for those friends of mine who (like me) enjoy writing. If you wish to take advantage of the invitation provided, please send me a private e-mail at nathanbalbright@yahoo.com, as I do not think it necessary to publicize what I am looking for.
An Invitation For Entrepreneuers
When I was reading Bly’s book 88 Money Making Writing Jobs [1], I realized that while I have a lot of friends who are entrepreneurs of various stripes, I was unaware of them actually being involved in any of the writings listed. Therefore, I would like to know if any of my friends who are small business owners use, or would like to use, the following types of writing:
- Annual Reports
- Blogs
- Booklets
- Brochures
- Business Plans
- Case Studies (also called testimonials and success stories)
- Corporate Histories
- Direct Mail
- Promotional E-mails
- Employee Communications
- E-newsletters
- Google Ad-Words
- Investor Relations
- Landing Pages
- PowerPoint Presentations
- Public Relations
- Procedure Writing (to meet ISO 9000 and other standards)
- Professional Speaking
- Proposal Writing
- Reports
- Specification Writing
- Training And Development
- Websites
- White Papers
If you are a friend of mine and your company is involved in such writing, please send me a private e-mail at nathanbalbright@yahoo.com with sample papers or weblinks, and I will take a look at them.
An Invitation For Writers
My invitation for writers is somewhat different, but not entirely unrelated. One of the “writing” skills I most wish to develop is the ability to put together and edit journals, newspapers. In other words, I want to improve my skills at desktop publishing, something I have been unable to do so far. So I have a few questions for my fellow friends in the writing business: do any of you have experience in desktop publishing yourselves, and/or do any of you have writings, especially short dialogues, essays, poems, and short stories that you wish to receive a larger audience? If so, please send me a private e-mail at nathanbalbright@yahoo.com.
I appreciate the participation and assistance of my friends in this matter.
