A Brief Challenge To The Readers

So, being interested in the subject of history and also in the rules of debate, I have a challenge to the readers of my blog.  If there is any historical subject the good (and thus far quiet) readers of my blog wish to see debated, please comment accordingly.  I am taking requests.  If you wish to see a treatment about a given historical subject, please comment it and it will be considered.  First, I will see if I have appropriate texts and background knowledge to comment on, and if not, I will look them up.  Additionally, if you wish to debate me yourself–say, in a blog vs. blog battle royale–please state the subject and your affiliation so we may agree upon debate terms.  Any takers?

I have found myself repeatedly thrown into arguments about how the axis/allied forces could have turned the tide at *insert battle name*. That was most of my college career.

    • Posky,

That’s actually a fairly common experience for those of us who have an interest in military history. Civil War buffs will ask about whether the Confederacy would have won if they had won at Antietam or Gettysburg, for example. I was interested in less of a counterfactual history exercise such as that than something a bit more substantial, like “why did the South candidly admit before the Civil war that slavery was the main cause of disagreement but deny it afterward.” Or, “from what ground did Nazism spring from?”

That would be the sort of debate I would be looking for.
