Campanile Nice Aeroport, Nice, France
There are things that a hotel needs to get right and there are things that are enjoyable for a hotel to do well. On the plus side, at least the hotel had a free airport shuttle that we took advantage both arriving and departing. In addition, the food that this hotel’s restaurant served was consistently fantastic. We had two meals in the place, dinner on Sunday night and breakfast on Monday morning and both times the hotel did a great job. The only fault that could be attributed to the shuttle was that since driving the shuttle took someone away from the front desk, it meant that there was not often an accurate length of time given for shuttle driving time estimates, which contributed to a bit of wasted time, which was a major problem this hotel had.
There are things that a hotel needs to do well, though, and unfortunately this hotel did not manage that. Among the tasks that a hotel needs to accomplish is not sabotaging the travel plans of customers when it comes to transportation by not keeping on taxi drivers enough, which is an occasional problem. The other issue is perhaps even more fundamental, and that is making sure that customers can get a good night’s sleep. My own sleep was deeply harmed in this hotel by hearing construction work at three in the morning, and one could regularly hear the sound of the tram from outside of the building. This is a considerable problem that suggests an investment of sound-proofing would be worthwhile for this hotel to be worth recommending to others.
