Max Cafe, Gibraltar
As I have commented repeatedly in this particular trip, location matters a great deal when it comes to eating, especially when one is on a limited schedule with limited knowledge of a place. This particular restaurant is located on a second floor (called the first floor, since in Gibraltar the first floor of buildings was labeled consistently as the ground floor) of a grocery store with a few things that are limited in Gibraltar, namely ample and accessible and free parking. This particular place is only open for breakfast and lunch, meaning that if one wants to eat here, one cannot really delay about it but one has to make a decision before 1:55PM, because that is the last time when food may be ordered from the place.
What is this particular place? Though our party’s own eating was pretty limited, the options of the place were pretty broad outside of these. The options were reasonable in price–I had a chicken curry with raisins and pineapple in a mild yellow curry washed down with large amounts of water, but there were definitely other options that were of interest. My mother had a small salad in anticipation of a larger dinner, which we ended up having in the airport in Malaga. It was pretty clear in watching the other people there that this particular place as a loyal base of business among locals of the region, who regularly eat there alone or with friends and family. In addition, there was some obvious flirtatious comradery between the staff of the restaurant when I was there as well.
