Boccone T1 is a combination restaurant/market that is located in a strategic location at the end of Terminal 1 in the Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada. Being fond of Italian food and being ravenously hungry when I arrived in the afternoon after not having had anything substantial to eat all day, I figured that it would be worthwhile to eat before trying to find and hike to the connecting gate, which I think would be a wise idea. If location is a key element in the success of a restaurant, this place definitely has its location under control. Given that this place is in an airport, it’s not a surprise that the cost of the food was on the spendy side, but that aspect of it was not too bad, thankfully. If one is looking for and fond of the market side, this is probably pretty competitive with anything else you are going to find in the airport. It is only if your diet is restricted, as mine is, that the food here is going to be a bit of an issue.
Given that I am not particularly fond of eating veal and do not eat pork at all in any form, this restaurant’s menu had few foods that met the bill. Fortunately, they did have a tasty Margherita pizza that was acceptably sized (if a bit spendy at $22.00), which certainly did hit the spot rather nicely. I don’t get cheese pizza often, but this was a tasty one, and is certainly a good option if the various salads, pastas, panini, and other pizzas contain ingredients that one doesn’t want. Unfortunately, the sweet tea was not enjoyable, as it came with some sort of odd fruit syrup rather than being sweetened in a less pleasing way. Still, if you’re hungry at Toronto’s airport, you could do worse than this. I’d probably want to investigate in the future, if I find myself in similar circumstances, whether one can do better.
